Did Rick Saada ever give any indication that he may one day release the source code to Castle of the Winds? I would love to look at it so I can learn how to program my own RPG games.

AFAIK, he hasn't released the source code.  If you want to learn the basics, there's an entire tutorial available here that will walk you through setting up a basic roguelike that can be expanded into an RPG.

I emailed him about it about 5 years ago. Unfortunately the code is long lost. :/

He did give the code to someone who wanted to make an MMO the kickstarter for it never got off the ground though
