I remembered a few days ago what the name of this fun game is that I used to play at my first computer. I was very happy to find it.
Now I am less happy. I have killed everything in that first castle and got the scrap of parchment that tells me to go to the second castle. I enter teh second castle and there is no stairs down. Did I stumble on a crappy dungeon layout? Am I supposed to do anything else before going to the castle?
I could start phasing like a nutcase hoping there is some hidden room, but I'd rather know whether there i a way down in all games. I remember quiting the game on my old pc because of this thing too. I kill and bandit in the second castle, find some nice symmetrical layouts and bam that's it.
er ... help?
btw A game that is very similar to this one and has more dungeons and stuff is Diablo (Blizzard). Maybe some of the people looking for a sequel should try it. I'm not suggesting Diablo II, but the orginal. It's loads of fun.
How am I supposed to search for secret doors? Is phasing how I am supposed to get in other rooms? Or do I have to do something in the rooms I'm in to make the doors visible?
I have turned on th lights in all rooms (that useless wand turns out to be a good torch), tried the examine command, hit the search button (btw what does that do???) ...
You missed out on a lot of rooms, and thus, items and experience, but there's usually nothing of importance in them, they're just like the other rooms.
After a while you kind of get a "feel" for where to search, and if you check out your map, and can see big blank areas, then search around the nearby walls. The best place to search, usually, is the dead-ends. Make sure you search each of them a few times too, they don't show up every time.
