I remember playing this game ages ago, loved it then and finding this site brought back some good memories. I was wondering if there was source code around for this game? would like to see how the random maps where created among other things.
I do not have the sorce code or anything like it. however I do know that it was written in 24 bit. I got this from the creator himself on the old forum. However it's not reponding to me anymore to get an email or somthing to contact him to see if he has it.
It may also be posible that epic still owns the rights to that and he only could give out the compiled version. It's on his web site offered free as well. the website told nothing of the programing language or the compiler..... Happy hunting.
As the levels are generated randomly to a certain degree I wonder if through hexediting or the like it would not be possible to at least add further levels down to the game. Anyone experience or ideas?
By the way, if someone finds the source, or at least the language, please tell me, as then I'd start coding the same day for sure. I will conduct research myself. If this does not result in anything there might be a chance I start writing a remake with an editor-like function for items, levelparts/generators, opponents, whatever, but this project would take time and won't happen too soon, thus this might-be-"addon" would be rather useful.
Again, thanks for any clues you find/found.

I have the source code. I contacted the person who is making the online version of Castle of the Winds, and he sent me the source code, because the original auther sent it to him. However, I got the creators permission first to have the source code. I dont think he is just giving it out. I looked through the code a bit, but don't know much c++ so i didnt do much. Maybe i will take a look at it soon.
